Last week, Damon and I managed to sneak away to California for a three day, whirlwind trip. We spent two of the three days at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure checking out the new sights and sounds to be held:
Disney's California Adventure. I knew this park since it was a parking lot, so I was really looking forward to seeing all of the changes. We walked up and down the streets just enjoying the atmosphere. All of the details that went into the park were truly remarkable. As we walked we saw the trolley come by and the Newsies show began. This show was adorable and Mickey stole the show. I was amazed at how Mickey talked and performed so seamlessly with the other performers.
Damon and I met at the Disney-MGM Studios/ Disney's Hollywood Studios and were both park facilitators. As lover of movies and history, lunch as the Carthay Circle Theater was a must! The Carthay Circle is where Disney features, such as the Skeleton Dance, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Fantasia all had their premiers. In face - Carthay Circle was the only theater willing to take a chance on Walt Disney's folley.
The interior is absolutely stunning. Styled in the 1920's are deco, it is like stepping in to the past. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. As an added bonus, by having lunch there, we were able to snag VIP seating for that nights World of Color show!
At the end of the line, we walked over to the animation area to check out the models for Frankenweenie. They are really fun and I cannot wait to see the movie. There weren't a lot of people there, so we walked through Beasts' library and took turns at figuring out which character we were most like.
As this was the week prior to our two year wedding anniversary, we indulged ourselves in some early gifts. I got Damon a red trolley shirt and a remote controlled trolley. He got me that gorgeous purse, which was inspired the movie 'Cars'. As you can see this was a lot for one day, so we headed back to the room for a much needed break
I love the Disney monorail, so I was so excited that our room was over the train! (And sappy time - our first vacation together, Damon and I shared a room above the monorail) We hung out in the room for about an hour and then headed to Disneyland for dinner.
As we headed towards dinner in Frontierland, we stopped to take in the Sounsational Parade. Mickey on the drums is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Its a shame he is at the front because the rest of the parade seems rather flat in comparison.
On our way to dinner, we passed Sleeping Beauty Castle. It looks so amazing at night :D
After Dinner, we checked out Carsland at night. It is so cool to see it all lit up with the neon. At this point, I could not wait to get there the next day to ride the attractions
We ended our first day at Disneyland with the Wonderful World of Color. I have seen this show a few times before and it never ceases to take my breath away. Now they have added glowing Mickey Mouse ears that blink and change color along with the music of the show. It was a lot of fun and I was ready to go back to the hotel to get some sleep.
Day 2 coming up next!
